Entomology trips to Baikal Siberia and Mongolia

  Attention!

        Our suggestion is for all lovers of nature and insects, wildlife photographers, entomologist and specialists of another groups.

        We will suggest you a visit to a fine landscape scope on the territory of Mongolia or Baikal Siberia: the pearl of Siberia – Baikal Lake, high mountains of Khamar-Daban and Eastern Sayan, steppes of Priolkhonye and buryatian Transbaikalia.  

          In dependence of your taxons of insects, biotopical, landscapes and geographical preferences of your objects of investigation, we had put together a plan of entomological trip. We can help you in collecting and determination (especially in Coleoptera) of material, give you information and literature on interesting siberian nature and entomofauna. You can see a beautiful Baikal`s views, grandeur of snowed mountains, taiga, steppe and desert pictures of Buryatiya and Mongolia.   

        All routes are by rented car, foot walk (high mountains), and by catter on Angara River and Baikal Lake to Listvyanka and Bolshye Koty. We have possibility to rent yacht for a long time journey over shores of Great Lake.

We can suggest you the typical rounds in Baikal Siberia:

1.     Irkutsk – Baikal Lake (Listvyanka, Bolshye Koti) – Irkutsk – Baikal Lake (Kultuk, Slyudyanka) – Khamar-Daban (Chersky mountain, h=1600 m) – Tunka valley – Eastern Sayan (Arshan, Tunkinsky mountains, upper of Kyngarga River, h=2000-2500 m).

2.     Irkutsk - Baikal Lake (Listvyanka, Bolshye Koti) – Irkutsk – Baikal Lake (Kultuk, Slyudyanka) – south shore of Baikal – Khamar-Daban, valley of Snezhnaya River (siberian “subtropics”) – Buryatiya, Il`ynka, Goryachinsk, termal springs – Barguzin valley, salt lakes – Ulan-Ude – steppes of south Buryatiya - Gusinoe Ozero – valleys of Chikoy River, “mini-deserts”, Dzhida River – Irkutsk.

  3.     Baikalian route. Irkutsk – Olkhon Island, steppes – Irkutsk – Baikal Lake, Listvyanka, Bolshye Koty – Irkutsk – Baikal Lake, Kultuk, Slyudyanka – Baikal round railway, Baikal port – south shores of Baikal.

  4.     Baikalian route. Irkutsk – Olkhon Island, steppes – Irkutsk – Baikal Lake, Listvyanka, Bolshye Koty – Irkutsk – Baikal Lake, Kultuk, Slyudyanka – Baikal round railway, Baikal port – south shores of Baikal – Slyudyanka – south shore of Baikal Lake – Transbaikalian shores of Baikal – delta of Selenga River – Goryachinsk, thermal springs – Chivyrkuy Bay - Irkutsk.

        You can oriented on these dates: 27 May – 15 September.  

        These are necessary to take in rounds: 1) single tent; 2) sleeping-bag; 3) field and rain clothes, and warm clothes (cold nights): cap, jacket, blouse, trousers, socks, boots. All these things you can buy in Irkutsk.
